How-to Post unban request
Composing an Un-Ban Request A practical and comprehensive guide to getting a ban lifted.
Liability Before even starting a request, you must know without a doubt whether you’re at fault or not. This is typically very debatable, but you yourself must know. Give it some thought. Be objective and don’t dismiss the possibility that you’re wrong. Admitting that it was your fault can be the fist step in a successful request.
Respect More often than not, un-ban requests are disrespectful. Often, a banned player will single out an admin, blame all of the administrators, or insult the clan as a whole. Doing such could result in the instantaneous closing of your request. If you’re a frequent visitor to an *=SAS=* server, it would be best to give a positive and objective opinion of the performance of the administration staff. If you don’t think highly of the staff, well, you do the math…
Perspectives Another error that many make when writing their un-ban requests is to see things for their perspective alone. Ignoring what the administrator may have seen from his or her perspective will damage your own case by not considering all of the factors and variables that led the administrator to conclude that you deserved a ban. Have you had troubles in our server before? Have you said the occasional forbidden word? Have you labeled anyone as a hacker in the past? Such factors that you may not normally pay heed to will often contribute to a decision to ban a player.
Professionalism “I wuz bann’d for using da heli.” What’s wrong here, you ask? Frankly, typing a request like this will project your image as a player rather poorly. It shows that you’re not that committed to resolving your ban and that you may type by simply bashing your head into your keyboard. If you show a definite effort in requesting a ban to be lifted, it will add an extra incentive to anyone who reviews your request. A proper use of grammar and a variety of vocabulary may show an administrator that you aren’t the idiot he or she thought he banned.
Victimizing Finally, you may be tempted to add a little line at the end of your request somehow projecting yourself as the victim of all of this. Don’t… don’t dramatize. Stay to the point. If you somehow feel cheated or disrespected, such matters should be handled directly via Private Message or a conversation with an administrator on TeamSpeak. Again, who’s liable?
Putting these few elements to good use in your ban request will greatly contribute to your efforts to have a ban against yourself lifted.
Thanks,
*=SAS=* Members and Staff
